When American-born South Indians Anne Marie and Jason decided to create a wedding gift set inspired by a modern twist on their Malayalee roots, I knew the design had to reflect both cultures seamlessly.
To achieve this, I paired bold colors with intricate line work and texture, blending traditional elements with contemporary style. The design featured motifs inspired by tender coconuts, Nendran bananas (Kerala bananas), and the Sadhya feast, capturing the essence of Kerala’s rich heritage. Statement patterns and illustrations were then created to be used as part of the branding for the wedding gifts they planned to offer to their guests. The primary goal was to honor their third-culture roots, giving their guests a meaningful connection to their traditions. The gift set not only served as a thoughtful tribute to their heritage but also allowed their guests to take home a piece of their unique cultural blend.
